Water heaters in Lakeland

Cold shower? Answer three questions.

Tell us what the tank is doing. Someone at the shop reads your answers and writes back with repair or replace, and what happens next.

What is the hot water doing?

Gas heater: is the pilot lit?

Smell gas? Leave the house and call 911 or your gas utility first. Don't relight a pilot you can smell.

Repair or replace

What your answers usually mean

Three questions, three usual answers. Your tank's age and the plumber's look decide the rest.

  • Usually replace

Water around the base of the tank

A tank that leaks from its body has rusted through, and a patch won't hold. A drip from a fitting or valve on top is a different job, and often a repair.

    Leaking tank help
  • Often a repair

No hot water, or never hot enough

Electric tanks lose a heating element or a thermostat. Gas tanks lose a thermocouple or a gas valve. The part is usually a small share of a new tank, if the tank is sound.

    No hot water help
  • Repair first

A gas pilot that won't stay lit

Check for gas smell first. A pilot that keeps going out is most often a worn thermocouple, which is a short repair on a tank that is otherwise fine.

The van

A stocked van, so the swap can happen today

We carry the common electric and gas tank sizes on the van and in the shop, with the connectors, valves and pans that go with them.

If yours is one of them and you call or text by early afternoon on a workday, the swap can happen that day. If it isn't, we say so, and tell you the day the heater comes in before we book it.

Same day, when

  • You call or text by about 1 p.m., Monday to Friday

  • Your tank is a size we stock

  • The spot is reachable and the old fittings pass

The shop

Who answers, and who comes

Seven of us, one family at the front. Three more installers and helpers round out the crew.

  • Esperanza Valdez

Owner and licensed plumber, speaks Spanish

    (863) 555-0101

Runs the shop and the schedule. Still takes the first look at a tank that has her stumped.

  • Cristobal Valdez

    Lead installer, speaks Spanish

Esperanza's son. Writes the price down before he shuts the water off.

  • Shanta Mims

    Office manager and dispatcher

    (863) 555-0101

Answers the phone, reads the label photos and books the van. Takes your number for a Spanish call back.

  • Dedrick Wiggins

    Installer

Sets tanks, runs the new connectors and hauls the old one out. Leaves the closet cleaner than he found it.

Short answers

Do you replace a heater the same day?

Often, yes. If your tank is a size we stock and you call or text by about 1 p.m. on a workday, we can. If we have to order it, we tell you the day before we book.

Do nights and weekends cost more?

We don't work nights or Sundays, so there is no after-hours rate. Saturday hours are on this page.

Will I get a price before you start?

Yes, in writing. Work starts only after you say yes.

Do you speak Spanish?

Esperanza and Cristobal do, on the phone and at the door. Not everyone on the crew does.

Not sure which one it is?

Send a few lines and a photo of the label on your heater. We'll write back during shop hours.
